Around the globe philanthropy and foundations in particular are increasingly confronted with demands for more participation, diversity and transparency. In this context, trust has become a crucial mindset for fostering inclusion, addressing power issues and evolving a new practice of giving.
As part of the BMW Foundation’s #EBDWeek21 we joined together on July 2nd with international participants representing foundations, NGOs and philanthropic networks to discuss what the future of philanthropy should look like in terms of power sharing and promoting diversity and inclusion. We were delighted to co-host the session with the following representatives:
- Cecilia von Stockhausen (Porticus) on achieving meaningful participation through a two directional, iterative group process
- Hanna Hanses (Dafne) on addressing big philanthropic questions in a coordinated and effective manner in the PEXcommunity
- Debora Guidetti (ARIADNE) on building a network of European donors to encourage strategic action
- Martin Modlinger (EDGE Funders Alliance) on raising awareness and increasing resources for systemic alternatives that support justice, equity and the well-being of the planet
